  Complex Sentences
a complex sentence is formed by an independent clause and at least one dependent clause.
remember a dependent clause ALWAYS begins with after, although, because, before, that, since, or when.
Examples:
he had not gone far when he came to the bridge of Seta-no-Karashi which spanned one end of the beautiful Lake Biwa.
on turning back, he was much surprised to see that the monster dragon had entirely disappeared.
Language. Underline the independent clause once and the dependent clause twice.
