4. Extension to Art Salvador Dalí
Salvador Dalí was a famous artist born in 1904 in Catalonia, Spain. He was part of the surrealist movement. Surrealist’s paintings were generally based on dreams. Artists used normal objects and painted them in a strange way.
Since he was a little boy, he had been encouraged to study art. He later studied at the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid but never finished. He got kicked out because he thought nobody from the academy was good enough to examine him.
He was known for acting strangely, he grew his hair long, wore sideburns, and had a strange style of dressing. He also grew his famous thin, curved mustache.
He was best known for translating dreams into art. He once defined his work as “hand painted dream photographs”. He was a man with a great imagination.
Between 1926 and 1929 he traveled several times to Paris where he met painters like Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro.
