Writing Workshop. Writing a Persuasive Speech
A persuasive speech’s main objective is to convince the listeners that what you are saying is true.
Using the writing process you will write a persuasive speech.
PREWRITING:
1. The main element in writing a successful speech is to choose a subject you are passionate about.
Examples:
 Adoption
 Addictions
 Alternative Medicine  Genetic Engineering  Global Warming
 Censuring the Internet
2. You need to demonstrate you are an expert in the subject which is why it is important that you research your topic, present facts, statistics, quotes and even add your personal experiences.
WRITING:
• Start writing your first draft.
• Remember the opening statement has to attract the audience’s attention.
• The introduction has to tell the main points of your speech.
• Present the facts.
• Your conclusion should be a strong one, end with a strong positive
statement.
EDITING:
• Read your speech carefully.
• Check spelling.
• Can you add anything to prove your point?
