It is the time of the year for analysis and predictions. The Rich people are richer and poor people are still poorer. The news reports on the White House continue to follow the path of a reality TV show. There is not a thing where we cannot notice the “Trump effect” coming into play, and not exactly in positive news but rather in the many fake news and lies which media sources have began to expose and count. With their neighbours, their allies, the indigenous, his Republican party, the Climate Paris Agreement, with everything. What a disaster. Not to mention the world being on the verge of a nuclear crisis with two extreme cases of fascist absurdities. Canada is the country to live in and grow.
Yet, we are still not unaffected from the impacts our neighbour can create with the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement “NAFTA” and the possible war Trump could start and could greatly affect the economy. Canadian exporters of commodity vehicles, etc., may be left with inoperative infrastructure or even enter to compete against tariffs and lose competitiveness. All this would generate loss of purchasing power and employment which would slow down the economy in Ontario. Although Trump has been slowly teaching the world that he talks much more than he acts or can act. Americans have a challenge in proving how effective their institutions are in stopping an unpredictable leader.
Although I am an optimist by nature, if I choose to consider that these many factors lead to many possible scenarios. I will continue to bet on growth, on the real estate boom due to the economic fundamentals being maintained (employment, low interest rates, migration and immigration creating demand, etc.) which translates to a solid economy full steam ahead for the economy of Ontario.
As Professor Drucker says we must focus on managing the things that are under our control. so, we must continue working for a 2018 full of challenges and with much to do, much growth in this our beautiful country and with the many diverse soccer lovers with a world championship ahead to enjoy.
My advice will continue to be the same, work hard and maintain your focus, be excellent at planning and very, very effective in executing what is planned. Best wishes for an excellent 2018.

Es la época de las predicciones y de los análisis. Cierra el mundo sin muchos cambios siendo los ricos más ricos y los pobres más pobres. Las noticias de la Casa Blanca parecen seguir un guión de un “reality show” permanente. No hay tema donde el llamado “efecto Trump” no se haya hecho notar, y no precisamente por las buenas noticias sino por todas sus salidas en falso y las mentiras que varios medios le contabilizan con horror. Con sus vecinos, con sus aliados, con los aborígenes, con su propio partido, con el pacto por el clima, con el loco de Corea del Norte; todo. ¡Que desastre! Y el mundo al borde de una crisis nuclear por cuenta de dos clases de fascismo y locura. Canada es el país para vivir, para crecer.
Pero no estamos ajenos al impacto que el vecino del sur pueda generar por renegociación del Tratado de Libre Comercio de Norte América “NAFTA” y por la guerra que Trump pueda generar y que puede impactar seriamente a la economía. Exportadores Canadienses de ‘commodities’ vehículos etc., pueden quedarse con una infraestructura inoperante o entrar a competir con aranceles y perder competitividad. Todo esto generaría pérdida de poder adquisitivo y empleo lo que frenaría la economía en Ontario. Aunque Trump ha ido enseñando al mundo que habla más de lo que hace o puede hacer. Los Estadounidenses tienen un reto en probar qué tan efectivas son sus instituciones para frenar a un impredecible líder.
Aunque he sido un optimista por naturaleza, si considero que estos factores ponen a pensar en posibles escenarios. Igualmente sigo apostando al crecimiento, al boom de real estate debido a que los fundamentos económicos se mantienes (empleo, bajas tasas de interés, migración e inmigración que significa demanda, etc.) lo que se traduce en una economía sólida y a full vapor para la provincia de Ontario.
Como dice el profesor Drucker debemos enfocarnos en controlar las cosas que están bajo nuestro manejo, así que, a seguir trabajando por un 2018 lleno de retos, mucho por hacer, mucho por crecer en este bello país y a los amantes del futbol con un mundial por disfrutar.
Mi consejo siempre será el mismo, trabajar duro y con foco, ser excelentes en planear y muy pero muy efectivo en ejecutar lo planeado. Los mejores deseos para un excelente 2018
