Nature at Pilcher Park
Nature Babies
Nature Babies will experience a hands-on exploration of nature. They will see and touch live animals, go on a guided hike to explore the woods, and work on a nature-themed craft using their  ne motor skills. Please dress your little one for the weather. Wear clothes and shoes for playing and painting!
In Search of Bats
Those shadows  itting about the night sky aren’t birds ... and they’re not vampires either. They are  ying mammals! Join
us as we investigate the myths and facts about our fabulous neighbors: bats! We’ll roast marshmallows around a cozy camp re, then we’ll go on a hike to  nd these mosquito-eating machines. We’ll use bat detectors to “listen” for them as they search for food. Wear long sleeves, pants, and bug repellent.

Small Animal Care Basics Class
Is your child interested in learning how to properly care for a small pet? This class will demonstrate the general care needs for small animals, like snakes, turtles, rodents, and birds. Learn about feeding, handling, and cleaning through hands-on experiences with our very own animals. This program could help your family decide which pet is best for all of you.

Read the Storybook Trail and Craft
Join us for a guided hike on our Storybook Trail! We will read a story to you as you walk along the trail, then come inside to make a fun craft. The stories and crafts will be related to the current season.
Is it a plant? Is it an animal? Discover the world of fungi, the most important living things you’ve never heard of! Join us for an exploration of the myriad of mushrooms and their kin that help our forest thrive, from giant pu balls to crowned corals. Learn  rsthand how to identify the deadly and the delectable as we examine the variety of fungi that pop up throughout the year. Dress for dirt, as we’ll be keeping a close eye to the ground as we hike through the woods!

Spooky Camp re Night
Spend a spooky, but family-friendly night beneath the stars and towering trees of Pilcher Park. Cozy up to a camp re while roasting marshmallows and listening to eerie stories told by our naturalists. In case of inclement weather, alternate activities will take place inside. Registration is required.
