A Letter from the Executive Director
Dear Joliet Park District Residents,
2018 was a memorable year for the Joliet Park District.
• Pilcher Park received the distinguished Nature Preserve/Land & Water Reserve status. This designation, which was signed by Governor Rauner, will help protect and preserve the natural heritage of the park which includes wildlife, rare plant species, archaeological resources and other natural resources.
• The Nowell Park Recreation Center opened October 20th. The facility has been well received with numerous fitness memberships purchased and many people/groups renting the multipurpose rooms and the gymnasium.
• The Wedgewood Golf Course renovation project will continue this spring. Nine holes will be available for golfers when the course opens with the full eighteen scheduled to open at the end of May. The updates to the clubhouse will begin this Fall.
The Joliet Park District is excited for the 2019 Taste of Joliet (June 21-23). The entertainment will be headlined by Foreigner on Friday night and Cole Swindell on Saturday night. Besides the great entertainment, approximately 25 food vendors will be
present throughout the Taste of Joliet.
Thank you to outgoing Commissioners Joe Mutz (4 years) and Matt McGuire (2 years) for your excellent service to the Park District and community. Good luck on your future endeavors.
On behalf of the Board of Commissioners and staff, thank you for your continued support. The Joliet Park District is committed to providing responsive, friendly, courteous, and excellent service to our patrons. If you have any questions, comments,
