General Information
The Inwood Skate School level system is based on the Ice Skating Institute (ISI) and United States Figure Skating (USFS) Skills Program. Student-teacher ratio is 6:1 for Tot 1 & 2 classes, 8:1 for Tot 3 & Tot 4 classes, and 12:1 for all other classes. For information about class structures, class formats, ISI, USFS etc., call the Skate School Office at 815-741-7275 ext. 305.
Parents/Guardians
Parents/guardians of Inwood Skate School students 12 years and younger must stay in the Ice Arena building for the duration of class.
Be Prepared for Class
Skate rental is available for $3. Figure skates are recommended for beginners but are not required. Double-blade skates are not permitted. Learn to Skate class participants should arrive 10-15 minutes before class to put on their skates and wear long sleeves and pants, as well as gloves or mittens. Classes meet in the lobby before going to the ice.
Advancement
For the benefit of all participants, the level system must be followed and skaters must demonstrate to staff mastery of the skills in each level before advancing. Progress reports will be given to all skaters at the end of each session. Skaters transferring from other skate schools will be evaluated by our Skate School staff for proper level placement.
Skate School Registration Policies
Classes with 3 skaters or less may be combined with other levels or cancelled. Refunds may be requested, but are not guaranteed, and are subject to a $5 administration fee and approval from management. To request a refund,
see the front desk for a Credit Request Form. Skaters are allowed 2 make-ups each session, and skaters must schedule make-ups in advance at the Skate School Information table located in the lobby during Skate School classes.
No make-ups will be allowed during the last week of classes due to testing. Late registrations may be taken with approval of the Skate School Supervisor.
