HADNOTT- SIMS
HER LIFE’S STORY
Mrs. Eva Lee Hadnott-Sims, one of seven children, was born on November 11, 1941 to the union of Thomas Hadnott and Effie Bell Austin Hadnott in Mansfield, Louisiana. She was baptized at an early age and graduated from DeSoto High School. Later, she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where she completed courses at Spaulding Business College.
While in Shreveport, she became a dental assistant and met and married Dr. Howard Sims, Jr. This union produced three daughters: Sharon, Shunta and Sheva Sims.
Mrs. Sims later attended Magnetic Beauty School and, Guy’s Academy of Cosmetology where she received her cosmetology teaching license. She found her niche as a very creative and innovative cosmetologist- ahead of her time. “Eva Sims House of Fashion” was where she created unique hairstyles and wigs along with custom jewelry.
Mrs. Sims is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Dr. Howard Sims, Jr.; her parents, Thomas and Effie B. Hadnott, three brothers; Sherman (Lola), Wilbert (Barbara) and Gary Hadnott, two sisters; Arma Jean Morris (Shedrick), and Vatrisher Youngblood (Jerry).
She leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Velma Spencer, three daughters: Sharon Sims-Player (Thomas) of Shreveport, La., Shunta Sims of Atlanta, Ga., and Judge Sheva Sims of Shreveport, La.; three granddaughters, Taylor, Nia, and K.C. Sims and a host of loving family members and friends. She will be missed.
