St. Mary Baptist Church Anniversary
The St. Mary Baptist Church was organized July 30, 1899 by the Rev. R. Lowe, J. W. Wells, and John Kennedy, along with sisters Tena Ferguson, Betsy Williams and Erma Ferguson. This group of dedicated and faithful workers had been holding prayer service in their homes regularly, which inspired them to organize the church. The first church was a “brush arbor until a frame structure was built. Years later the present building was constructed. The church was remodeled in August 1937.
In 2011, the church was remodeled again. The pastor’s office was enlarged and new office furniture was purchased. New pews, pulpit furniture and offering tables, windows, foyer doors, new carpet and tile were installed in the sanctuary. In 2014, new choir robes were purchased and new exterior doors were installed.
Through the years, St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church established numerous ministry departments. All praises to the Lord God Almighty for allowing the existence of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church for 125 years.
