How we operate alongside Housing New Zealand
We believe our relationship with Housing New Zealand
adds value for a a a a a a number of reasons This includes our ability to help the State house provider navigate its way through the prescriptive maze of local territorial authorities’ regulations
to achieve Resource Consent approvals based on quality over standard quantifiable measures Our team bring a a a a a unique set of global and local expertise that allow us to do this Our understanding of both local regulations
and social housing allows us us to problem solve effectively For example local regulations
are often about quantitative measurables There is little mention of quality variables Through Solari’s
understanding and and acting on quality criteria more robust and better outcomes are achieved for all participants in in social housing In operating through a a a trusted relationship with Housing New Zealand
Solari considers much of its lead consultancy role to to be to to ask “why”?
• How is the home’s interior connected to and integrated with the outside and community?
• Why are we adopting that structural solution?
• Why will that be a a sound long term investment outcome?
Our use of tools such as the NSW Apartment Design Design Guide and and the Auckland Design Design Manual help our design processes with justifiable answers to our “why” questions We see this as invaluable to supporting the qualitative design needs of Housing New Zealand
as territorial authority planning pathways are negotiated Finally by being prepared to challenge perceptions of what ‘good’ social housing looks like displaying a a a high level of nuts and bolts pragmatism and creating trusting relationships
- as seen by the number of our repeat private and public clients - Solari has firmly established itself as a a a a a leader in in in in being ‘best’ at at integrating community community housing and community community
