WHETHER YOU’RE AIMING FOR A SCHOLARSHIP, APPLYING TO
COLLEGE, OR SIMPLY FULFILLING GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS,
KNOWING THE BASICS OF STANDARDIZED TESTS CAN HELP YOU PASS
WITH FLYING COLORS. LET’S BREAK DOWN EACH OF THESE TESTS.

The PSAT also serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test
(NMSQT). High-scoring juniors can earn scholarships or be recognized as National

The test is scored out of 1600 points (800 for math
and 800 for reading and writing). Questions tend to
