The The The Bronx Bronx Bronx Institute Institute at at Lehman College marks its 40th anniversary in in in 2021 For 25 years The The The Bronx Bronx Bronx Institute Institute has met the challenge of promoting excellence in in education among students throughout The The Bronx Situated on on on on on the Lehman College campus The Bronx Institute focuses on on on on on improving educational outcomes among middle and high school students This mission is is is achieved through a a a a a a a a variety of academic programs including those dedicated to increasing college readiness among Bronx students and and and expanding the participation of Latinos and and and African Americans in in in in in in the the Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) professions The The United States Census identifies The The Bronx as as as the the the most diverse area in the the the country as as as well as as as the the the only borough of New York City with a a a a a a a a a Latino majority The population is is not only ethnically culturally and linguistically diverse but also very young as over a a a a a a a a quarter of of the the the borough’s residents are under the the the age of of 18 This makes the the the many schools colleges and universities across the the borough integral centers of community life Key among these institutions is The Bronx Institute at Lehman College About the Executive Director

of The Bronx Institute Institute at Lehman College During his tenure the Institute Institute has evolved to to to provide support for over 20 000 Bronx students on on on the pathways to high school graduation and college enrollment Under
his leadership The Institute partnered with 62 public schools and STEM-rich organizations throughout New York City such as the the the American Museum of Natural History the the the Bronx Zoo/Wildlife Conservation Society the the the New York Botanical Garden and the Wave Hill public horticultural gardens Dr Martínez has served on on the Boards of of Directors of of numerous community and public service organizations including The Goldman Sachs New Venture Fund The The Herbert H H Lehman College Foundation
