THE BRONX GEAR UP SUMMER PROGRAM HUMANITIES TRACK
During the Bronx GEAR UP Network Summer Program, our students took part in a one-week institute at the New York Botanical Garden’s Georgia O’Keefe exhibition as well as art classes from the Lehman Art Gallery. The exhibition explored the life and work of famous artist Georgia O’Keeffe as part of the Humanities program, which includes literature, the arts and journalism. The students working with the Lehman Art Gallery would learn a different artistic method every week, including basic drawing, watercolor painting, oil pastels and finally acrylic painting. This package was created to showcase some of the students’ original artistic creations. We hope you all enjoy seeing the work of the students as much as they enjoyed creating it.
