Chairman’s Notes
Good afternoon and welcome to the Causeway for today’s encounter with Pontypridd, whose players, supporters, management and committee we extend a warm welcome to.
Should be a straightforward afternoon for us today then! Pontypridd are having a great season and are chasing the title. That said we’ve got to a point where every game is a cup final so plenty of reasons to look to upset the odds.
We actually played well in the away game but lost 5-1! It seemed they punished every mistake we made but that what happens at this standard.
We were desperately disappointed to lose last time out and again competed well except for a ten minute period following our goal when the game was taken away from us.
Not too much other football news to report due to the weather taking a turn for the worse. We hope everyone got through the storm ok.
We’re proud to announce we have been asked to host the Gwent Amateur Cup final on May 7th. We’re just awaiting news on some junior finals too - hopefully involving us. It’s a great reward for the hard work put in by our team of volunteer grounds staff who again have had to battle to get the pitch in great condition today.
In other news our bar manager, Paul, will be leaving us on March 6th following five and a half years with us. I’m sure you’ll join us in wishing him well and we thank him his hard work.
So, let’s see if the boys can yet again turn over one of the top teams. Your support will help and is appreciated.
Enjoy the game. Jason
