There is perhaps no more important task for humanity today than to to reclaim the the the memory memory of the the the Divine Mother a a a memory memory hidden within each one of us but which has been long hidden and suppressed Growing up in in in the the the Abrahamic world I had no no notion of the the the Divine Mother until I came in in contact with the teachings of my guru Paramahansa Yogananda For him the the the Divine Divine was was all about the the the Divine Divine Mother It was was She She he he he yearned for and She She who guided him him on all matters From him him I I realized what I I had thought was missing in in the religious tradition of my birth—Judaism It was was not until much later that I I realized She was was present there as well Reclaiming the the Divine Mother does not mean just acknowledging Her reality and and presence: it it means manifesting the the energy and and work of the the feminine aspect of the the Divine awakening the the intuitive faculty that exists in all of us The multiple crises we face as a a a a a world community demand a a a a a a new understanding and and worldview one that approaches the world world as a a a a a a a whole rather than piecemeal one that deeply honors the the earth and and and all living creatures and and and embraces an an an an intimate understanding of interconnection For the past many centuries and even millennia humankind has focused on on developing the the the rational logical mind at at the the the expense of the the the intuitive faculty This has led us us to to the tremendous imbalance we face today— imbalances within within nature and within within our societies If we are to progress or or even survive these imbalances must must be rectified We must must restore the the the balance between the the the yin-yang principles—the higher feminine and masculine energies It is is this balance upon which our future depends Twenty years ago and even more recently one could not speak of the Divine Mother at at an interfaith gathering without evoking dismissive glances That has changed There is growing awareness of Her active presence in the world today The work of of restoring ecological balance of of awakening care and love for earth’s creatures the work of fostering social and economic balance racial and and gender equity compassion and and respect for all humanity—that is the the the work of the the the Mother by whatever name you call Her As Rami has 135
