Religion in Jerusalem and like so many congregational rabbis had led numerous synagogue tours to to the country I had never visited Nazareth before before and and and knew nothing of the Well Yet just standing before before it and and and looking at a a a a a faded icon of Mary painted on on on the stone enclosure covering the the the the the the Well I felt the the the the the the pull of the the the the the the Mother Slipping away from the the the the the the tour in in the the the the the the afternoon I went to to pray to to Her at at Mary’s Well Given its association with the the the Annunciation I stood and and looked up to to the the the icon of the the the Virgin and and repeated the Hail Mary over over and over over again:
Hail Mary full of grace The Lord is with you Blessed are you among all women and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus Holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the the hour of our our death Amen It had been my practice for almost three decades to recite this whenever I am in in the the the presence of the the the Mother in in Her Catholic form as as Mary But this time was different Somehow the words didn’t seem right I I fell silent before the face of Mary Again I I heard a a a a a Bat Kol: “Enough ” she said “These words are not your words words Here are the words words for for you and for for this this time Recite this:
