STUDENTS

• Prepares students with the knowledge they will need to successfully compete in the 21st Century.
ADMINISTRATORS
Provides a K–5 school-wide science curriculum that:
• Supports diverse student populations, including ELLs and DLs.
• Integrates literacy and language strategies into science.
• Uses research-based strategies and activities to support school improvement initiatives for Science and English Language Arts.
• Creates a differentiated collection of nonfiction science trade books in both paperback and eBook format.
TEACHERS
• Provides lessons that are designed to teach science standards-based content while building literacy and language skills.
• Guides teachers in research-based strategies for informational text literacy, content vocabulary, and academic language.
• Supports future shifts in science standards to include more inquiry driven learning and STEM at all grade levels.
PARENTS
• Supports parents in becoming partners in science learning with their child through home-school projects.
• Gives parents access to science trade books in print or eBook format.
