My work creates a tension between vibrant, fantastical imagery and darker narratives that lie beneath the surface. Through this contrast, I reflect on my relationship with grief, shaped by a difficult childhood.
In Repent 2, I depict the overwhelming feeling of killing your own innocence. When the rose-colored glasses come off, and a harsher reality sets in. The Garden is a tribute to two profound losses: my mother and my childhood dog. I found comfort in depicting them in a moment of calm respite. Captured expresses the feeling of being emotionally distant or outcast from others.
