PARKS & TRAILS
           ALLAN BELL MEMORIAL NATURE TRAIL Behind the Tomahawk High School office, beside King’s Road parking lot. 15-30 min walk open to all.
PRIDE PARK 7 acres located on 9th St and Lincoln Ave. Playground, Tyler Kahle Memorial Baseball Field, outdoor Winter ice skating rink, basketball court, & restrooms.
      Marker arrows & 10 interpretive signs designed
by students describing habitats, wildlife, & plant species. Allan loved educating people of all ages about nature & wrote the famous “Birch Bark Notes” published in the Tomahawk Leader for 30 years.
BRADLEY PARK & MIRROR LAKE On West Spirit Ave. Over 100 acres of tall timber surrounded by the Wisconsin River, acquired in 1910 from the Bradley Company. Playground, picnic area & shelters, grills, restroom, boat landing, walking & biking trails,
plus a hike out to a scenic point. Visit the Nystrom Cabin, once used for registration at the park.
FRENCHTOWN PARK & BEACH 3 acre space with tennis court, playground, & softball field.
Off South Tomahawk Ave on West Anna St. A 3/4 acre swimming beach on Lake Mohawksin is just a few blocks South at the end of Mary St.
HIAWATHA & BEARSKIN TRAIL Beginning at SARA Park in town, the Hiawatha Trail follows the former famed “Milwaukee Road” railway bed 6.6 mi North to Heafford Junction, where it joins the Bearskin State Park Trail that connects to Minocqua (21.5 miles total). A compacted granite bicycle & pedestrian path in warmer months, it becomes a snowmobile trail in Winter. The original railroad pony truss Trestle Bridge just North of SARA Park is a Tomahawk landmark.
PRIDE POND TRAILS On Pride Ponds Rd off Cty E. Environmental education resource site located on 80 acres, just a few minutes South of town. 3 miles of trails open for walking, snowshoeing, & cross-country skiing. Designed & built by Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) in collaboration with the UW system, WDNR, Tomahawk Area Schools, & the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
RIVERWALK Short but very scenic route along the Wisconsin River! Begin at Veteran’s Memorial Park, head beneath the North 4th St bridge, & enjoy a paved and boardwalk path along the River. Pause at the Public Library on your way to SARA Park & the Hiawatha/ Bearskin trail head.
SARA PARK Located on West Somo Ave on the Wisconsin River. The host of many area events & activities! 26
acres of baseball fields, pickleball, volleyball court, activity center, indoor Winter ice skating & hockey rink, playground, restrooms, swimming beach, public boat landing, & entry to the Hiawatha hiking and biking trails. Camping spaces available from the City of Tomahawk, (715) 453-4040.
TOMAHAWK DOG PARK West Somo Ave, just past
SARA Park. 3.5 fenced acres with separate area for small dogs. $2 donation per visit per dog. Open from dawn
to dusk.
