SAWDY POND “LAKE ICE BEAR” The famous Hamms Brewery Company Bear advertised Hamms beer throughout the “Land of Sky Blue Waters” sales area in the 1950s, & this one was displayed as a promotional item on Sawdy Pond outside the Lake Ice Company (a local tackle shop). In 2019 it was restored by the Tomahawk Historical Society & returned to Sawdy Pond, just off Lake Mohawksin near the North 4th St bridge.

Trap shooting May through October on Wednesdays

Just a few minutes south of Tomahawk on Stelling Rd. Family-friendly gardens open seasonally for acres of fresh veggie, flower, & Fall pumpkin picking. (See ad, this page.)
TIMM’S HILL COUNTY PARK The highest geographical point in Wisconsin at 1,951 feet above sea level! On Rustic Road 62 off Hwy 86, about 30 min West of Tomahawk.
A popular place to view Fall color. Climb the tower for 30-mile views, then take the trail around quiet Bass Lake. Vehicle access May-Oct; walk-in access Nov-Apr. Boat landing, fishing pier, shelter with picnic tables, swimming beach, playground equipment, restrooms. Multi-use, non-motorized trails for biking, hiking, horseback riding, snowshoeing, & skiing that connect to National Ice Age & Rib Lake trails.
ICE AGE TRAIL SEGMENTS Grandfather Falls Segment: Southwest of Tomahawk along the Wisconsin River on scenic State Hwy 107. Harrison Hills Segment: Located in the Harrison Hills where the Ice Age Trail crosses B at the “ATV Trail & Parking” sign. A good hike on a rollercoaster- like path along the spine of glacial history. Lookout Mountain (1,920 ft) is the highest point on the Ice Age Trail. Camping available on county forest lands. These segments strictly for hiking, skiing, or snowshoeing.
UNDERDOWN RECREATION AREA W3221 Copper Lake Ave, Gleason, WI 54435. Thousands of acres of seasonal non-motorized recreation. Hiking, biking, horseback riding, skiing & snowshoe trails, some challenging. Includes a section of Ice Age Trail. Primitive campsites available. Several kettle lakes accessible for year-round fishing.
