The Shoot: A Day in the Field
The heartbeat of the trip was a day in the field: a classic driven partridge shoot across La Caminera’s dramatic landscape. For the men—Mark, Peter, Miles, and James—the day began with preparation and quiet anticipation. After breakfast, they met their secretarios and loaders, adjusted shooting jackets, and headed into the undulating terrain that defines this part of Spain. The drives were thrilling: coveys of red-legged partridge burst from cover, fast and high, requiring sharp eyes and quicker reflexes. Between drives, tapas and drinks were served in the field, creating moments of shared satisfaction and friendly rivalry. Meanwhile, Joanna, Cara, Alison, and Annabel began their day with spa treatments and serenity. By midday, they were chauffeured to the shoot for a long, leisurely lunch—a stylish entrance that added sparkle to the day. Their arrival brought new energy, as the group gathered around rustic tables with wine, laughter, and stories of soaring birds and near misses. This chapter tells the story of the shoot— not only as sport, but as an experience defined by elegance, camaraderie, and the deep joy of doing something memorable with those who matter most.
