Chapter Two: The Long Road Through Welsh Majesty
Friday, October 25th, 2024
Day two of the Wonder of Wales Drivers Club Rally was the most demanding, yet the scenic routes and awe-inspiring landscapes made every mile a joy to drive. By 9:30 AM, participants were ready to set off from Pale Hall, embarking on a journey through the heart of Wales that would etch memories to last a lifetime.
The convoy headed south, weaving through rural lanes and undulating mountain passes before tracing the banks of Lake Vyrnwy. Majestic views of the lake’s serene waters were a reminder of Wales’ raw beauty as the group pressed on, ascending back into the mountains towards Trawsfynydd. Around mid-morning, they arrived at The Bryn Arms in Gellilydan for a welcome coffee break—a moment to relax and recount the drive so far.
Refreshed, the drivers set off once again, heading toward Betws-y-Coed. Winding through the spectacular Minllyn Valley, the route opened up to sweeping views, each corner revealing a scene more breathtaking than the last. The destination for lunch was Pant Du Vineyard, where the verdant surroundings and local Welsh fare offered a delightful midday respite.
After lunch, the rally continued, taking participants along the coastal A487 and through the quiet B-roads behind Arenig Mountain. The final stretch led them back to Pale Hall, arriving just in time to settle in and enjoy a well-deserved drink at the bar.
This was a day defined by dramatic landscapes, camaraderie, and the shared thrill of the road—an unforgettable journey that highlighted the soul-stirring beauty of Wales.
