Badminton Park 22nd January 2025
At Badminton the morning lay,
In fog that stole the world away; The house stood hidden, trees concealed, An eerie hush across the field.
Through muffled air the drives began,
A ghostly stage for sport and man;
Yet patience held, as time made clear, The sun broke through, the light drew near.
The mists uncurled, the shadows fled, Gold crowned the parkland’s ancient spread; And ghosted trees gave way to sight,
Of splendour bathed in warming light.
So memory keeps that shifting scene, From spectral grey to bright serene;
A day of sport, of view divine, Where earth and heaven seemed to twine.
