Mentoring
Ask any successful lawyer how they got there and they’re likely to tell you about the people who invested in them along the way.
That’s because mentoring is a cornerstone of any successful and sustainable career.
The ADC supports mentoring because it not only serves to transmit knowledge and wisdom, but also to strengthen relationships
throughout the firm, which are key to an inclusive and positive culture.
While the best mentoring is organic, formal mentoring programs can also plant the seeds for success. Before the merger, the
legacy firms had different approaches to these programs. The ADC is working toward a “best of both worlds” approach that will
take our mentoring to new heights.
Coaching
Careers are like marathons – full of challenges and rewards – and successful ones require commitment, endurance, and
resilience. Just as coaching can help you train for a big race, it can help you make the most of your professional development
efforts and overcome obstacles that come your way.
To cultivate the firm’s coaching culture, the ADC offers personalized, in-house professional
coaching services to associates, counsel, and partners throughout the firm. Jessica Grondine,
a certified professional coach and 20-plus-year veteran of our attorney development team, is
available to meet one-on-one to guide lawyers at any stage of their careers.
Scores of AFS lawyers at all levels have worked with Jessica to set goals, improve working
relationships, navigate personal issues, and become more connected and integrated. Coaching
empowers individuals to find their own answers, build agency, and work toward solutions. This
powerful professional and personal development tool can take you from good to great.
