Wellness
Taking care of ourselves is critical for our happiness as well as our ability to serve our clients. As a signatory to the American
Bar Association’s Well-Being Pledge, ArentFox Schiff is committed to combatting the epidemic of substance abuse and mental
health challenges within the legal profession by providing education, policies, and resources that advance well-being for all firm
professionals.
The ADC’s wellness arm, led by Annie Lee, takes a holistic approach by offering trainings and discussions on a wide range of topics
from mental health, substance abuse, burnout, resilience, and stress management to mindfulness, physical health, productivity,
and financial wellness.
In 2022, we hosted Paula Davis, former lawyer and founder of the Stress & Resilience Institute, for a four-part series of talks
providing practical tips to deal with burnout and create resilience. The talks emphasized team-building concepts like creating a
culture of belonging and trust, raising stress awareness and promoting engagement, leveraging mental strengths, and creating
positive change.
In spring 2023, best-selling author Cassie Holmes joined us to talk about time management and how to improve our lives by
changing how we perceive and invest our time. Cassie explained how small changes can help us avoid feeling overwhelmed so we
can be more present and more fulfilled.
We are recruiting Wellness Ambassadors from across the firm to help advance our mission to create a healthier, happier workplace.
“Attorney wellness and mental health is an important aspect of the ADC, and we
are committed to creating a more healthy and supportive environment at AFS.
This includes de-stigmatizing the concept of seeking help from professionals,
colleagues, or both. AFS is a proud signatory of the American Bar Association’s
Well-Being Pledge Campaign, and we welcome any and all ideas to improve the
well-being of our AFS colleagues.”
