CEO, Back 2 School Illinois
For seven years, Matthew Kurtzman has been CEO of nonprofit Back 2 School Illinois, which provides school supplies to underprivileged children throughout the state. Kurtzman has 25-plus years of experience in fundraising, marketing and special events and developing relationships with corporations, nonprofits and individuals. In 2017, Back 2 School Illinois distributed more than 34,000 back-to-school kits to children in Illinois. Under Kurtzman’s leadership, Back 2 School Illinois is expanding this year to become a nationwide program.
How he gives back: Kurtzman has donated his time to nonprofit organizations that include Chicago House & Social Service Agency, State Theatre, Equality Illinois, Howard Brown Health Center, 20% Theater and Chicago Lost and Found.
