‘pathological’ energy to become available for the patient to freely express their life. By administering a homeopathic medicine, we have not transferred energy to the patient in the modern physical sense of the word (energy comes from food). I think, it is better to consider that we transferred information. If we use the word energy, we should be able to measure this energy by using physical tools. If we want to go to more esoteric interpretations – that is fine by me. But it is important, before doing so, to explain to the audience what the terms of reference are for what you are saying. If we do not clearly set out a particular term of references in which we want to explain something, we have to assume we work within ‘modern physics’ and modern medical terms.
• Of course, this does not stop us using all the terminology that is typical for homeopathic medicine. But, again, here it is always necessary to be clear what
one means by the terminology used, which is not always the case. During a conference I noticed that at some point, within the same breath, the essence of the medicine Tuberculinum, miasms and Sankaran’s miasms were discussed. These are three completely different notions in homeopathy and clear lines need to be drawn in discussions, even though there is overlap between them. Making sure everybody in the audience can clearly understand what is said is essential for good transmission of information: it is up to the narrator to always imagine that not everybody in the audience uses the same definitions as him/her. Again: we have to set out in clear terms what we are referring to or what definitions we use or rely on, maybe what school of thought we are relying on or name the author of the definition/view we use.
• There is nothing that stops us using references very different from conventional thinking to discuss ideas
and other matters: but it is important to clearly define we do so at the time. Always: set the terms of reference. • We have to, at all times, show that we practice homeopathy, because we are for homeopathy and not because we are against other ways of doing medicine.
Itisuptousto make sure that homeopathy will progress to its rightful place in medicine. We have received a heritage, which we have to build on to improve.
I would like to repeat a statement made by Dr Jacques Imbrechts, one of the fathers of homeopathy in Europe and presidents of the LIGA: ‘’We have to be like good farmers: a good farmer will not just take the milk of the cow for his benefit but will also feed and look after the cow.’’ Never forget that we are like specialists in medicine: specialists have to work on keeping improving their skills and improve the knowledge and practice of their speciality.
