 BAVH at London Vet Show
     Report by Wendy McGrandle, UK
The British Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy (BAVH) made its debut at London Vet Show in November 2014.
BAVH was established in 2013 with 4 partners, 3 veterinary surgeons, Sue Armstrong, John Saxton, Wendy McGrandles and 1 veterinary nurse, Vicky Smart.
BAVH is committed to the establishment of high quality homeopathy as an accepted therapeutic modality within the veterinary professions. We aim to provide excellence in homeopathic training for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses using the best interactive educational methods and to enable veterinary professionals to integrate the discipline into their clinical practice and to facilitate this within the framework of an evidence-based approach.
It was with all this in mind that we decided to embrace the opportunity to exhibit at London Vet Show. With over 6000 delegates this commercial exhibition and provider of CPD has become a major event in the veterinary calendar in the UK. With some trepidation we set up our stand on Wednesday evening and waited to see, whether we were challenged by any of the anti- homeopathic brigade. We couldn't have been more delighted with the response from the profession. Over the next 2
days we engaged with over 100 delegates from final year vet students and vet nurses to experienced veterinary surgeons with the vast majority being receptive to the subject. We saw a level of enthusiasm for homeopathy as an additional tool to be used in an integrated way in modern vet practice.
In addition Geoff Johnston gave a superb talk on “Treating Cancer with Homeopathy”. His lecture was well received with standing room only and a few delegates not able to get in.
taster in homeopathy and how to apply it in an integrated way along with the current evidence base.
So onwards and upwards – we aim to have the
first year Foundation Course available by March 2015 and already have a list of potential students waiting to enrol. This is in addition to a new first year course that has already started in Japan.
Our thanks must also go to The Scottish Homeopathic and Education Trust (SHRET),
BAVH has now launched its first 4 lectures, which are available to download from Vet Academy – a mainstream CPD provider and these initial lectures are free to all in order to give future students an opportunity to get a

who have supported us financially to get this project up and running.
The Future is bright, the Future is Homeopathy.
There was plenty of interest in the BAVH stand at the show
