continued from page 3
She loves company in the house, sometimes cries when she is left alone. She likes to follow her guardians through the house, only when she sleeps in the afternoon always at the exact same time she stays where she is, and when disturbed she has bitten her guardians on occasion. She does not want to get close, never sleeps with body contact, even though from time to time she wants her belly petted – which she finishes by trying to bite in earnest. Her litter box is down in the cellar and she only goes there when nobody is nearby.
The peeing started about half a year after she was spayed. She never pees/marks things, when her guardians are out of the house, only when at least one of them is home, but never in a demonstrative manner. In fact, she goes where nobody sees her and then pees on furniture, clothes and carpets. She has one favourite chair to pee on. Desperate and with the advice of a behavioural specialist the guardian moved the chair to the cellar but that didn’t really help, Zenzi found another favourite chair to use.
She can stay in the sun for a little while, but then changes for the shadow
So – what do we have?
There is a cat that in the language of the repertory would be called “dirty” and is deliberately urinating indoors, which is the main complaint the guardian came for. She doesn’t do it when alone, but still hides from view when she pees. She is timid and even afraid with strangers and anything she isn’t used to. The behaviour at the stairs, where she slipped, for me was peculiar. How many cats do you know that stand and cry to be carried? She clearly dwells on disagreeable occurrences. I also took the biting, because I think it is rare for such a timid cat to bite and mean it.
I first thought of Natrium mur ,which is another timid, shy remedy that refuses to be looked at or Carcinosin, both of
them have the emotional trauma; Carcinosin the need to be noticed even though they are shy at the core. But when I repertorised the case, I saw Ambra grisea coming up and when a rare remedy comes through, a whole cycle it is always worth looking at.
Ambergris (Ambra grisea) is a substance from the digestive tract of the sperm whale (Physeter mcrocephalus) that was and is highly valued in cosmetics. It is produced in the bile duct and usually found floating in the sea or in dead sperm whales. King Charles II is reported to have enjoyed Ambergris with eggs and during the plague years, it was believed that it was a protection from infection and burned like incense. Today it is illegal in the USA under the protection of endangered species act, but still legal in other countries for the production of alternative medicines.
As a homeopathic remedy it is the most shy of them all, the Ambra patient does not want to be looked at under any circumstances. They avoid eye contact and any kind of closeness even with someone they know and trust. A lot of Ambras get other remedies like Staphisagria, Natrium mur or carb or Carcinosin. Sometimes they even get Thuja.
One of the main keynotes is ailments from grief. But it is not the grief itself, it is the deep emotions stemming from grief and they can’t bring them out.
A lot of Ambra people appear almost quirky, they joke and laugh at serious matters. They try to find jobs, where they avoid contact with other people. It is also common for confusion and dementia.
Cold, sinusitis and anything affecting the respiratory tract are typical problems, the tendency to sneeze was reported in the provings. They have a strong sex-drive, which is interesting, as the peeing problem started to occur after spaying, which, of course, is a form of suppression.
Emotions run deep in them, but are often hidden in a way that makes them tighter than Natrium mur. Because they feel this need to communicate, somehow they push themselves beyond a point, where they feel comfortable which often leads to a lot of awkwardness. And in that awkwardness they are clumsy and prone to accidents, nobody can find an explanation for.
Other keywords are the inability to defecate in the company of others, which we have in the story of Zenzi and which is described in school-children, who suffer from constipation because of that. A lot of these children receive Silica and they get better but not really well.
Zenzi received one dose of Ambra grisea 200 C in July 2018. Two days after she got the remedy the guardians had guests – and Zenzi suddenly walked into the room, demanding to be petted. That was the first hint that the remedy was okay. Four days after that she peed twice on the carpet in the dining room, while her guardians had breakfast. Ever since then she has not peed again. The guardians renovated, they even brought back “her” chair and nothing happened. She is walking the chairs up and down again and even sits at the edge of the balcony. For a week she started to sneeze and her nose was running, but it was all mild and disappeared without any further treatment.
As for the lack of a picture: at the one and only appoint- ment it was simply not possible, as she would bury in her guardian’s clothes all the time. Zenzi did not need a second dose or any other remedy so far, so I did not see her again.
