months. Lise says generally any improving will be evident during the first month, she doesn’t know anything as potent as the right homeopathic remedy.
She rounded off her presentation by citing the paper published in Veterinary Record 2009 by Peter Hill, a clinician at Bristol Veterinary School, and Jack Hoare, a Bristol based homeopathic vet, (and BAHVS stalwart over many years, who died in 2020 after contracting Coronavirus).
The paper is entitled ‘Pilot Study of effect of individualised homeopathy on the pruritus associated with atopic dermatitis in dogs.’ 20 dogs were treated, prescribed individualised remedies by Jack with Peter and students present. Each dog was sent home with placebo and remedy separately, with owners asked if they could differentiate between the two. All owners could differentiate between the two. Peter and Jack concluded a large, randomised and controlled trial is required. This has never happened, so there is more work to be done. Lise’s
view is that we need to get to a point where GP vets refer chronic skin cases to a homeopath routinely.
Lise was warmly thanked by her international audience for contributing her time and presenting such an enjoyable, interesting, and informative session.
