Then there is the new BAHVS case study evenings run by Geoff Johnson, where two people present cured cases and one person presents a challenging case in progress.
Not only has this given many insights into the different approaches we have in analysing and prescribing but they also have the added benefit of connecting with a group of like- minded people every five weeks or so to talk about our common passion! What’s not to like? I’m finding them really energising, the next is on May 6th at 7pm.
Lastly, I listened recently to a podcast from The Faculty of Homeopathy, an interview with Brian Kaplan, whom I’m sure many of you know, on his life and career.

Brian is an entertaining speaker and the story of homeopathy from the 1980’s onwards in the UK was incredibly interesting. It could have ended on a depressing note but he was actually hopeful and still passionate about his life’s work. It made me realise again the effect homeopathy can have both on and within a person’s life. Maybe it is reconnecting with homeopathy through all these events or maybe it’s because I’m surrounded by fields full of lambs at the moment but I feel a new energy, a re-emergence if you like. Homeopathy isn’t just a job it’s who we are and what we do. We are specialists in our field and tremendously valued by animal owners all over the world. Let’s have confidence in ourselves and our chosen field, both for our own benefits and the good of our patients.

  HARRY HAS ARTHRITIS
By Edward De Beukelaer, UK
Harry is a Springer spaniel cross. He is generally stiff but his main issues are arthritis of his carpals and metacarpal joints; he is only 6 years old. The Reduction Of Movement (ROM) of his carpal joints is to 90 degrees due to the arthritic changes. The lameness had progressed over the last 9 months. He is castrated; he has a big body with thinnish legs.
In the consult room, the owner puts him on the table
and he stands there and accepts all examinations. He is a bit nervous and unsure but does not move. He ignores the treat I offer him but 20 minutes in the consultation he accepts one, when I drop it on the floor.
‘’The two dogs do everything together. The other dog (bitch) is the boss. They always sleep on top of each other. He still runs around in the field but you can see that he is lame.
