IAVH Newsletter
President’s Letter
The EU Regulation team members of IAVH have been working their socks off and have put together a number of documents and instructions on how to influence the EU proposal for a new regulation of veterinary medicines. It was necessary to engage in this process, because the new EU Proposal was putting the prescription of the unitary homeo- pathic remedy in veterinary medicine in Europe at risk. There were provisions in the proposed regulation in relation to homeopathic medicines but they were confusing and very restrictive.
The information packages were sent to your National Representatives, so that all have been able to help us achieving change in this matter to protect veterinary homeopathy in Europe. I look forward to seeing a good outcome in this matter. Any good outcomes can then be used to influence other legislative bodies in the world.
In this process the IAVH has strengthened
its link with other homeopathy organisations, such as EUROCAM and the ECH. Already the link with the ECH had become stronger by working together to organise their congress in Vienna in November 2016, which is now a ECH/ IAVH and Homeopathic Patient Organisation collaboration. I hope you are keeping this date free in your agenda. There will be much on offer during this congress: both on veterinary presentations but equally on human presentations that will help us improve our homeopathic technique. It is important that we come together on a European level to promote, what we do and learn from each other. Coming to such large congresses does demand quite an effort on time and finances, but it is one way to assure that homeopathy moves successfully into the 21st century and that you remain up to date with all progress. Show your dedication by joining us next year in Vienna!
The third subject of this letter is a change
in how the IAVH office will be functioning. After many years of fruitful collaboration we will lose Markus [Meyer; Ed], who cannot assure the work for the IAVH anymore. At the time of writing of this letter we are in the midst of the process of deciding, what the new 'office of the IAVH' will look like. In the name of the IAVH I would like to thank Markus and his team for their excellent work and for having helped in bringing the IAVH to where we are now.
Of course, every time I write a newsletter, I will remind you about the Materia Medica project. Please send in your participation! Also, don't forget the Mag: write up your cases and send them to Malene [Jorgensen, malene@laforcevitale.eu; Ed]. The IAVH is not only there to defend homeopathy, it is also there to bring veterinary homeopaths together, so we can learn from each other. Best wishes and a successful 2016!

Here is a short report about homeopathy in Turkey
In 2003 the first homeopathy association of Turkey was founded in Izmir and was called ‘Klasik Homeopati Dernegi’ (Classical Homeopathy Association). The organisation accepts only medical doctors, veterinarians, pharmacists, and dentists. They are a member of LIGA and ECH.
In 2008 another association called ‘Homeopati Dernegi’ (Homeopathy Association) was founded in Istanbul. They accept anyone, who is interested in homeopathy, which also includes medical people. They are educating their members with a program, which is guided by ECH. Many famous homeopaths around the world are coming to give lectures. They stage congresses about homeopathy and the fourth will be held in April in Istanbul. I am a member of this group.
In 2010 the only veterinary association for homeopathy was founded in Ankara and called ‘Veteriner Homoopati Dernegi’ (Veterinary Homeopathy Association). I am also a member of this group. We are trying
to increase the interest of Turkish veterinarians in homeopathic treatments for animals.
In 2011 ‘Organon Homeopati Derneği’ (Organon Homeopathy Association) was founded in Izmir. This is a small group, which only accepts medical doctors.
In 2014, ‘Uluslararası Homeopati Derneği’ (International Homeopathy Association) was founded in Ankara just for Pharmacists. They are trying to create interest for the preparation and production of homeopathic medicines in Turkey. They are just in an experimental state right now.
And lastly, also in 2014, ‘Homeopatik Tip Dernegi’ (Homeopathic Medical Assocation) was founded in Istanbul as a branch of ‘Homeopati Dernegi’, which only accepts medical doctors, veterinarians, pharmacists, and dentists. I am also a member of this group.
So, I hope this report would give you an idea about the situation of homeopathy in Turkey. Regards, Banu
Imprinting?
by Don Hamilton, USA
We know, of course, the concept of imprinting in birds, when a baby chick emerges from the egg and sees some living being and then “thinks that being is its mother.” But what about other animals? What about cats and dogs? Is the mechanism whereby a kitten or puppy accepts a human as a family member similar? As a scientist, I don’t know, but as one who ponders the human-animal relationship, I would say maybe so. Probably so, actually.
Just today I received one of those emails that go around. This one was about hugs, and it showed dogs hugging humans, a lion hugging a human, a tiger hugging a human, a
chimpanzee hugging a
human baby, and even
animals I don’t recognize
hugging humans. Cute
photos, aren’t they? But I find
them troubling. Why would
all these animals hug
humans? Is this normal? Does this represent the Peaceable Kingdom come to life, promising a coming era of peace? I would like to think so, but I fear not.
As I sometimes treat humans in addition to animals, I occasionally read human psychology texts and articles. Recently I have been reading
some works by DW Winnicott. One book, Depression and Delinquency, deals with Winnicott’s experiences during World War Two with British children who were temporarily rehomed in the countryside during the war to protect them from injury during the bomb raids in the cities. Many of these children suffered moderate to severe emotional trauma as a
