animal although the required remedy is a pred- ator, or vice versa. The correct remedy will be found in other areas in the case.
Pets and other domesticated animals
For those of us with imaginings of happy pets and other animals cared for by generous humans, the provings show us the real story of degradation and self-loathing. For example in the quote of Nancy Herrick: “Much to all the provers’ surprise horses seem to be about the unhappiest and most dissatisfied animals on earth”.
The miasm of the mammals is currently considered to be mainly sycotic with Lac-d malarial and Lac-leo syphilitic (Sankaran). It has been suggested that Lac-e is cancer. Note Amba grisea (sperm whale “vomit”) is leprous. Probably other miasms will be allocated to dif- ferent mammals as understanding grows.
Most important veterinary point
I have never had a successful lac prescription in an animal, where sympathy was not present. They might be a vicious betrayed tiger or a cor- nered rat most of the time, but when the owner is ill – they change. For most of my successful prescriptions The animals actually press them- selves against the owner. It is not just a head on the knee, like Nat-m or a bird. Of course it is also likely that they will enjoy cuddling and might cuddle back using their legs.
Lac Humanum in veterinary medicine
In my experience, a Lac-h prescription in a human has a radioactive energy. Their con-
cerns are global and their need may be to mother the whole world. Indeed in the proving, Lac-h dreams of atomic bombs. So how would Lac-h present in a dog or horse? Maybe an ani- mal that cries tears when upset? Maybe the most vicious unfeeling bastard that walked the earth? Time will tell.
Monkey
They want to entertain – make others laugh. They can feel pushed/kicked out of the group, have warts around the nails and are sensitive to criticism (Hardy).
Hedgehog
Sticking pains, knife-like, hard, sharp, crushing sensation – want to curl in and be as small as possible in a cave, tension as apposed to unwinding, spring releases, fluid, aversion to sympathy and company,
retreat within yourself to fight the pain, helpless and isolated, no appetite – food tastes of noth- ing, iritis and throat (Johnson and Cattley)
Dairy Cow
Community and the fear of losing it, the desire to be attractive, fears and dreams of being pur- sued or beaten, injustice sense of, fears for mother or children, forsaken feelings, the need to bear a lot of suffering, headache as if top of head would fly off.
Dama dama (Fallow deer)
Cooking, baking, family concerns, earthy and simple, authenticity – dislike of the fake or the shallow society, “grandmother to the world”.
Also predator, sexual, stabbing, arrows, attacked/attacking with knives – in proving dream of being confrontational with the word predator written on belt. (Proving J Sherr).
Gorilla
Unconcerned by what others think, restless (Hardy).
Cat
“The prostitute’s remedy”. Feeling that to gain love or protection, they must degrade them- selves, often sexually but could be e.g. a desire to clean toilets (Linda Johnson).
Divya Chhabra suggests, the cat is the only animal that domesticated itself for profit in the grain stores of the Egyptians, so that it could catch the mice. It had to allow itself to be han- dled and fondled as a necessary part of this pact with humans. Dirty, disgusting fear, revul- sion, sex and aversion to touch – to cheapen oneself. Physically, the remedy includes eye symptoms of cutting and stitching pains and has delusions that pointed objects are going to pierce the eye. This reflects the fighting tactics of clawing at the eyes of our domestic cats
Dog
Loathing of oneself that even the touch of your own skin is repulsive – hence the aversion to have one’s fingers or thighs together. No other animal has been subjected to the humiliations of the “domesticated wolf”. That graceful White Fang from the wild becomes the pug, poodle or Chihuahua. The distortions of the body are manifest especially in the nose – that organ so

Masterclass with Geoff Johnson
Saturday, 18 May, 2013 at Penny Brohn Centre, Pill, Bristol
These remedies from the gold series have become some of the most important remedies we have, frequently prescribed by those trained in their use. Mentally they are about the determi- nation to live your own life, free from control and tyranny. To lose control over one’s self is auto-immune disease. These elements are also essential for 21st Century life, powering your smart phones and the world wide web. Philosophically they are the essence behind revolution – this is their time.
Geoff will explain their position in the periodic table, and how to recognise them from the words and behaviour of our patients. The talk will be illustrated by cases from horses, humans, dogs and cats.
