DFCS Reunion 15-19 Sep, 2019 – Dayton, Ohio
Celebrating 100 Years of American Air Power
By Warren Eastman, Chairman, DFCS Reunion Committee
Reunion planning is well underway. We are meeting in Dayton/Fairborn, Ohio September 15 -19, 2019. Our hotel is the Holiday Inn/Fairborn. We will open registration after the first of the year.
Planning is being finalized.
We will have a day at the National Museum of the Air Force. The Museum is about a ten-minute drive from our hotel. Busses will rotate during the day for those who don’t want to spend the entire day at the Museum
Dayton is the home base of the Wright Brothers. During the Reunion, we will also be exploring the Wright Brothers’ heritage, taking in the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, the Huffman Prairie Flying Field, the Wright Brothers Aviation Center, and the Wright Cycle Company Complex.
Our theme is Celebrating 100 Years of American Airpower, dating from establishment of the United States Army Air Service in 1918 during World War I. Around that theme, a new feature of
our Reunion will be Chock Talks – 30 minute or so presentations. We are honored to have Jonna Doolittle Hoppes (DFCS Associate member), speaking about her grandfather and DFCS member, Gen Jimmy Doolittle. Maj Gen Don Shepperd, F-100 Misty FAC and DFCS member, as well as former Director of the Air National Guard, will also give a Chock Talk. One other speaker is to be determined.
Evening events will be our traditional first-night dinner, our Silent Auction, and our final night banquet. Our banquet speaker will be Dick Rutan, former Misty FAC and a DFCS Member, who later flew the Voyager aircraft around the world non-stop.
We have also started our new Reunion Campaign on social media. Starting the week of Sept. 16, 2018, there has been and will be a DFC Society member highlighted weekly.
