 about the cover
The sensitivity of the snare drum allows it to respond audibly to the softest strokes, even with a wire brush.
Based on historical records, the snare drum has roots all the way back in medieval times, around the 1300’s when its ancestor the Tabor was used by the fife and drum corps. The Tabor was a double- headed large instrument that was worn over the right shoulder using a strap.
I think of the song “Little drummer boy” when I hear the snare drum sound.
Happy Holidays

I bought my first Nikon camera in 2017 with the encouragement of my High school friend who I met in the 1970’s. He came back into my life, opened my eyes and encouraged me to tap into my creative side. I will be so ever grateful for his kindness and patience through teaching me this beautiful art called photography. It is wonderful to see the world thorough a lens. I love composing the picture in my mind which is always teeming with ideas. I will sometimes choose unusual viewpoints and I wait awhile for the right light or dramatic clouds to appear at the perfect moment to enrich the scene. I like how I can influence mood through contrast and colour during my editing process on the computer.
I truly enjoy photography so much! I find it to be exciting and rewarding, and I am always learning something new. My friend and mentor died of cancer in 2021. Treat your friends as you treat your pictures, and place them in their best light.
More from Debbie
There is something alluring about the countryside, and the peacefulness of nature.
On this sunny snowy day my friend and I decided to go on a road trip with no destination in mind. He was behind the wheel and I had my Nikon camera in hand and I was excited to learn how to use my newest lens.
Snow covered trees to the left, horses and cows to the right.
Suddenly, I shouted “stop the car!”
Looking through my new 500mm lens I saw magic. A canvas full of color and movement. Children at play, some skating well, a few discovering something new, challenging their strength and balance. I wanted to stand and watch them longer, but they noticed me and I was distracting them.
Life is an adventure in learning and play. We all need to make time for both. Debbie Macdonald
