The 2017 parade is the 28th event that started in 1988 as a march/walk from St. Paul AME Church (downtown) to the Hillsborough County Court- house.
After enjoying several years in the West Tampa community, and the celebration ending in the Pepin-Rood Stadium at the University of Tampa, the parade is now held in East Tampa. The parade starts at N. 15th Street, follows a route down Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., down 22nd St., and ends on Osborne Ave. (at 22nd St.)

Council Members Ask For Inquiry Into Toxic Drywall
Problem At Belmont Heights Estates
After reading about the sit- uation involving the toxic dry- wall inside homes at Belmont Heights Estates, Councilman Frank Reddick suggested the City find a way of helping the people living in the toxic drywall homes, and also to meet with Tampa Housing Au- thority and other officials.
Council Chair, Mike Suarez, announced that a workshop would be held De- cember 10th where they will be meeting with THA officials and possibly representatives from the Clearwater company that supplied the tainted drywall.
“This is an issue that needs to be resolved in the best inter- est of the people who bought the homes without any knowl- edge of a problem with toxic drywall,” said Councilman

Reddick.
“I want to know what we
can do to help those people, and find out who should be held accountable for this prob- lem and get them to resolve the issue.”
