Tampa Matriarch Dies At 112 Years Old
A longtime Tampa ma- triarch died on Saturday. Mother Voncile Dry was 112 years old when she passed on Saturday, Sept. 7th.
A native of Okaloosa County (Milligan), Florida, Mother Dry was born on April 24, 1907. She arrived in Tampa many decades ago, somewhere in the 1940s, she once told a re- porter. In April 2017, she was honored at Mt. Sinai
AME Zion Church for her 110th Birthday.
Mother Dry was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai AME Zion Church, where she was an usher and took care of the church.
Her work experience in- cluded Morrison’s Cafeteria and Jack Pendola’s Men’s Apparel Shop.
Mother Dry took care of her home on Columbus Dr. until 2013, where she was often seen working in
her yard. She was also often seen walking around the city.
Mother Dry’s only child, Charles McCaskill, Sr., passed away in 2012. She is survived by grand- children, great-grandchil- dren and many other relatives.
Funeral services are in- complete at press time with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of service.
