  Tampa Artist Designs Cover Of Time Magazine
      TIME MAGAZINE COVER for week of August 31st through September 7th
school, she came to Tampa in 2016 to pursue a degree in Fine Arts. Four years later, in May, the young lady had earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts de- gree.
Recently, Ms. Jones responded to an inquiry on Instagram that has ul- timately changed her life. She was approached by Victor Williams, Inter- national Art Director for Time Magazine after he saw her artwork on Insta- gram.

“The flag was one of the things we talked about, but he left the creativity to me. By the time we had finalized every- thing, I had 24 hours to com- plete the project,” she said.

American Flag is embroidered on canvas. It is a mixture of color that fades into the red, white, and blue.
The series is entitled,
“The New American Rev- olution,” that focuses on equality and racism in Amer- ica.
The magazine is featuring a series of conversations and essays about creating a more equitable future for Black Americans, curated by Recording Artist and Pro-
ducer Pharrell Williams.
A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Jones said that for about the last 4 years, she has concentrated on Social In- justice and current issues in-
fluencing society.
The 23-year-old describes
herself as an activist artist and wants to become a full time artist. She also plans to return to school in the future to earn her a Master’s degree in Fine Art.
She describes her style as that of embroidery and paint- ing/ mixed media. She discov- ered embroidery through experimentation and decided to incorporate it into painting, she said.
Ms. Jones knows what she wants to do in the future and plans to host an art ex- hibit soon. “Some of her work can be viewed at @artyouhun- gry.

Ms. Nneka Jones be- came interested in art work around the age of 5. By the time she was 12, she consid- ered herself an artist.

“I was extremely shocked and I didn’t believe it was real. I spoke with my par- ents and they just said to make sure it was legitimate.”
She followed her parents’ advice and communicated with Williams for about 5 days.
