All About You!
James M. Berrien 100th Birthday Celebration
When you live to see your 100th birthday, even COVID- 19 cannot stop this milestone celebration. The family will be hosting a drive-by parade and James will be sitting outside the church around noon to receive his guests as they pass by his beloved Mt. Moriah M. B. Church, in Wimauma, where he has been a member for over 70 years.
The family is requesting some help celebrating James M. Berrien, a proud WW II veteran, who is turning 100 years old on Sep- tember 5, 2020.
The family would like to receive 100 birthday cards, at the church, 5803 Vel Street, Wimauma, FL 33598.
Deacon James grew up during the Great Depression
and served in World War II. He married his wife, (the apple of his eye) Lillie Mae, to whom he was married for 56 years until her death 25 years ago. He raised his 7 children in Wimauma. Two of his children are deceased.
He is well known in the community as the “Honorary Mayor.” He earned this title when he used to go and ruffle a lot of feathers at the Hills- borough County government offices fighting for improve- ments and developments in the Wimauma community.
He said he really has no secret to a long life to pass on, other than you must know the MAN UPSTAIRS and give the Lord some of your time and praise Him daily and share the Gospel.
Deacon James is very
bored with COVID-19 quar- antine because he misses driving his beloved scooter around the community on his twice-a-day rounds “as he likes to say,” visiting family and friends, especially the children.
Things are different now, but he still praises the MAN UPSTAIRS.
