Russell Wilson's College Coach Told Him To 'Give It Up' And Said He'd Never Make The NFL
RUSSELL WILSON
Russell Wilson is a Super Bowl champion. He is a six-time Pro Bowler. Yet, Wil- son has heard it all. He’s too short. He’s not good enough. Wilson even heard it from his former college football coach who once told him he was never going to make it to the NFL.
Wilson has not missed a game as a starting quarter- back for the Seahawks. He guided the Hawks to a 43-8 victory over the Denver Bron- cos in Super Bowl XLVII. In his eight seasons with the team, he has a record of 86- 41-1. He has thrown for 227 touchdowns and nearly 30,000 yards.
In April of 2019, the Sea- hawks gave Wilson another hefty pay raise, extending him for four more years at $140 million.
In 2016, when Russell Wilson was giving a com- mencement speech at the University of Wisconsin, he told the graduates of the day he transferred to Wisconsin for his final season after the Wolfpack decided to go with Mike Glennon at quarter- back.
While Wilson was away playing baseball, he called his coach, Tom OBrien, at North Carolina State to tell him he wanted to return for his senior year.
“I called my football coach at N.C. State and said, ‘Hey coach, I’d like to come back for my senior year,’” Wilson said. “He told me I wasn’t coming back. He said, ‘Listen son, you’re never going to play in the National Football League. You’re too small. There’s no chance. You’ve got no shot. Give it up.’”

'Tompa Bay' And 'Tampa Brady' For Merchandise Use
Reportedly Looking At
When it comes to quarter- back Tom Brady, it seems you either hate him or love him.
For Patriots, and now Buccaneers fans, it’s clear which category they fall into.
Brady's company has filed for two new trademark applications: TOMPA BAY & TAMPA BRADY. He intends to use the phrases on clothing and other merchandise.
But, for those who just

Charles Davis To Replace Dan Fouts At CBS
CBS is making a change to its No. 2 NFL announcing team.
CBS is hiring Charles Davis away from FOX, the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reported on Fri- day. Marchand says there is a verbal agreement but noth- ing has been signed yet by Davis.
Davis previously served as an analyst with Kevin Burkhardt on FOX’s No. 2 NFL team. The 55-year-old analyst also called the na- tional championship game in college football in the past.
At CBS, Davis will team

announcing team and get a chance to call a playoff game next year. Marchand fur- ther reports that Davis could even call golf for the network at some point.

don’t seem to like the Golden Boy, here’s some news that may just add a little more fuel to that fire.
Jameis Winston re- mains a free agent three weeks after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released him, and it is looking less likely by the day that a team will sign him with the intent of mak- ing him a starter. However, Winston is still hoping for a chance to compete for a start- ing job.
Winston and his repre- sentatives are searching for a team that has a quarterback who may not have a strong hold on the starting job. If there is no opportunity to compete for a starting job, Winston may look to sign with a team like the Pitts- burgh Steelers, Seattle Sea- hawks or Green Bay Packers sohecanbackupastarQB.
Jameis Winston Claps Back At David Carr For Training Remark
NFL Network analyst and former quarterback David Carr critiqued Jameis Winston’s workout tech- nique on Thursday. Carr said that the exercise Win- ston does where he moves hisheadoutofthewayofa moving punching bag isn’t very helpful.
Carr said in a tweet that Winston should get some help and stop allowing his friends to train him. To which Winston responded on Friday:
“Hey bro I have nothing but love for you! Reach out to help or mind your business though,” tweeted Winston. “I’ve been working with my personal trainer since I was 14! We built this from the

bottom and we’re still build- ing. Treat others how you want to be treated bro! #La- hater #SocialDistancing”
Winston even provided video evidence of an instance on the field where knowing how to duck out of harm’s way is helpful.
Carr played 11 seasons in the NFL and did not exactly have a very fruitful career. So perhaps Winston’s re- sponse was also rooted in the fact that Carr probably shouldn’t be saying much for that reason alone.
While Winston’s exer- cise may look ridiculous (let’s be real: it does), it’s probably a bit overboard for Carr to have told him to find another trainer.
Winston is currently a free agent after Tom Brady took his job in Tampa Bay.
The 26-year-old spent the first five years of his career with the Buccaneers. He was chosen No. 1 overall by the Bucs back in 2015 and had immense potential coming out of Florida State. But he has yet to realize it.
The fifth-year QB threw 33 touchdowns and 30 inter- ceptions in 2019. Making him the first player in NFL history to finish with 30 touchdowns and 30 picks in the same season.
