Sligh Middle Magnet School Summer Program Presents Production
On Wednesday, July 20, 2016, Sligh Middle Magnet School created their own HOST history when they put on an explosive production incorporating all of the ven- ues they provided for the students in the program this summer.
HOST, whose acronym is Hillsborough County Public Schools Out-Of-School Time Program, is designed to as- sist families with a safe, su- pervised environment before and after school hours.
At Sligh, there were a va- riety of programs offered to include culinary arts, video games, drama, dance, arts and crafts, drumline, step team, steel drums, and cho- rus.
The students showcased what they were taught in a final presentation for their parents. Food was provided by the culinary arts depart- ment and Bobby Brown Catering.
The performances drew thunderous applause in the standing-room-only school’s cafeteria.
Under the direction of HOST Lead, Dr. P. Tucker-Johnson, the au- dience was amazed at the costumes, lights, and music. John Wendelkyn pro- vided the sound system for the event.
The teachers directed their students with precision and class. It was simply an amazing event leaving guests speechless.
The summer HOST pro- gram closed on Thursday, July 28th, but will begin again during the school year.
Gratitude is extended to Sligh Administrators, Princi- pal Shellie Black-wood Green, Daniel Baugh, Earnest Wood, and Ke- linda Lockett; Custodial Staff and the HOST instruc-
