Culinary Specialist Aboard USS Ronald Reagan
Culinary Specialist Seaman Apprentice Anthony Garno, of St. Petersburg, is currently assigned to the aircraft car- rier USS Ronald Reagan.
The responsibility of a Culinary Specialist is to store enough food to serve more than 2,000 sailors in port and more than 5,000 sailors underway. The USS Ronald Regan provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the United States and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pa- cific region.
St. Petersburg Native Serves Aboard Submarine
Chief Bill Cullen is currently serving as the U. S. Navy Com- mander. He is stationed aboard the Submarine Group 10.
Chief Cullen graduated from Lakewood High School in 1989. He is currently assigned as the Fire Control Technician, serving at the Kings Bay-based command supporting Ohio-class ballistic and guided missile submarines.
He is responsible for training and maintaining the tomahawk weapon systems for 10 boats at Kings Bay, GA.
As a member of one of the U. S. Navy’s most relied upon assets, Chief Cullen and other Commander, Submarine Group 10 sailors know they are part of a legacy that will last beyond their lifetimes.
Plant City Resident Assigned To USS Maryland
Petty Officer 3rd Class Daniel Anthony is a sonar technician (submarines) serving aboard the Kings Bay-based boat, one of 14 Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines. A Navy sonar technician (submarines) is responsible for the safety of the ship.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Anthony graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 2011. He is a native of Plant City and is serving in the U.S. Navy as part of a crew work- ing aboard one of the world’s most advanced ballistic mis- sile submarines, USS Mary-
land (SSBN 738).
Petty Officer 3rd Class Anthony is part of the boat’s blue crew, one of the two ro- tating crews, which allow the ship to be deployed on mis- sions more often without tax- ing one crew too much. A typical crew on this subma- rine is approximately 150 of- ficers and enlisted Sailors.
