Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park Public Meeting
Small Business Opportunity Forum
The City of Tampa and the Design Team want to share the final design for Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park. There will also be a discussion on the im- pending construction schedule for the redevelopment of the park.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, February 10th,6p.m.to7p.m.,at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, 2200 North Oregon Street.
There will be an open house segment where those in atten- dance will view and discuss the final design with the design team.
The meeting is free and open to the public. Free park- ing is available behind the cen- ter, and on the west and south sides.

The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) and its general engineering consultant, HNTB Corpora- tion, are hosting a Small Busi- ness Opportunity Forum to help businesses better under- stand how to access contract- ing and procurement opportunities in the tolling in- dustry. The special forum will take place on February 3, 2016 from8a.m.to12p.m.inthe First Floor boardroom of the
THEA Traffic Management Center, located 1104 East Twiggs Street.
The Small Business Oppor- tunity Forum will showcase opportunities within THEA’s 5-year work plan and provide a general overview of Small Business Enterprise (SBE) op- portunities in the tolling in- dustry.
The forum will include pre- sentations by THEA and HNTB and allow for network-
ing opportunities for atten- dees. SBE’s will also be invited to engage in HNTB’s mentor protégé program. There is no charge to attend the forum, but attendees must register by e-mailing Rebecca Bonner at HNTB Corporation; rbon- ner@hntb.com.
The Small Business Oppor- tunity Forum is a unique op- portunity for small businesses to engage with THEA and HNTB in a casual setting.
Voices Against Brain Cancer Run/Walk
“Voices Against Brain Can- cer,” a national non-profit or- ganization committed to finding a cure for brain cancer and brain tumors, is set to host its inaugural “Join the Voices! Tampa Run/Walk” on Saturday, February 27th. The fun-filled fitness-inspired event, which is open to all, will take place at Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park, 601 Water Street in Tampa.
“Voices Against Brain Can- cer” hosts thee run/walks across the nation in hopes to support the brain cancer com- munity, create greater na- tional awareness and ultimately find a cure. During the Tampa event, many local patients, caregivers, doctors, and healthcare provides will be honored for their roles in the fight against this devastat- ing disease.
The day will feature a 5K Run, 3K Scenic Walk, Kids Races, as well as family activ- ities, and live music and en- tertainment.
At this event, the Voices Against Brain Cancer Family Initiative Program, a new re- source, will be introduced and made available to Tampa fam- ilies. “Voices Against Brain Cancer” was started in loving memory of Gary Lichten- stein, who at the age of 24, lost his battle with brain can- cer on October 1, 2003. Lichtenstein was living in Chicago, Illinois, and working as an options trader at Wolverine Trading when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor on March 4, 2003. After three months of radia- tion Lichtenstein slipped into a coma and did not re- cover.
