League Of Women Voters Hosting Seminars To Educate Seniors About Medicare

Often one of the most confusing parts of being a senior citizen is figuring out the different parts of Medicare. Whether you are new to Medicare or have been using the program for years, the intricacies of Medicare can be a stumbling block to full access of all pro-
gram benefits.

Luther King Day of Service, the Hillsborough County League of Women Voters (HCWLV) is facilitating three seminars within the African American community. Each seminar will be to educate senior citizens about Medicare and its associated parts A, B, C, and D with the focus on communities of

funding for the seminars is from the state and held by Hillsborough Community College to be dispersed to the League of Women Voters.
Angela Birdsong, a LWVHC board member and co-chair or the League’s Health Care committee, will present the A, B, C, and Ds of Medicare. Birdsong is a Health and Life Agent who assists her clients to transi- tion to Medicare. She is also a Medicare specialist.
According to HCLWV President, Dr. Idelia Phillips, “Understanding the four parts of Medicare is extremely important in our community so that our sen- iors can ask intelligent ques- tions and know what their rights allow them to do.”
