‘Click It Or Ticket’ Campaign Underway
Annual 71st Freedom Fund Banquet
Law enforcement agen- cies throughout the state are participating in the Na- tional Highway Safety ‘Click It Or Ticket’ Campaign. The campaign began on Mon- day, May 21st and will end on Sunday, June 3, 2018.
Law enforcement in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, along with the Florida Highway Patrol will focus on educating drivers with the issuance of warn- ings and citations for seat belt violations. The enforce- ment efforts will take place at various locations throughout the area.

According to the na- tional Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly half of the passenger vehicle occupants killed in accidents in 2016 were un- restrained. At night be- tween the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., that number in- creased to 56% of those killed.
Participating law en- forcement agencies will be taking a no-excuses ap- proach to seat belt law en- forcement, writing citations day and night.
On Saturday April 21st, the Lakeland Branch NAACP held its Annual 71st Freedom Fund Banquet at the Apostle Henry Ross Sr. Family Center, Lakeland, Florida.
The Keynote Speaker for the banquet was Pastor Harold D. Lewis Sr., of St. Mark United Methodist Church, Lakeland, Florida. The theme for this year was: “Steadfast And Immov- able.” The banquet event was sold-out.
