19th Annual Back To School Bash To Be Held At Ragan Park
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Nearly 20 years ago, a Tampa woman began provid- ing school supplies to stu- dents in Hillsborough County. On Sunday, August 5th, she will host her 19th An- nual Back To School Give- away, Community Fun Day & Health Fair.
Ms. Tonya Lewis,
founder of Children With A Vision, Inc., will host the Back-To-School Bash, at Ragan Park, 1200 E. Lake Av- enue, from 12 noon until 6 p.m.
Ms. Lewis said there will be two events under one roof, the Back-To-School Giveaway will share space with the Community Fun Day & Health Fair.
The supplies will be distributed on a first- come, first-served basis while they last, and all children must be accom- panied by a parent or adult guardian. She fur- ther stated that blankets and chairs will not be provided. Those planning to attend do not block the driveways of the homes in the area.
“This year will be awe- some! This event attracts hundreds of children and their families from across the Bay Area for a day of old- school fun activities, good food, custom caricatures, face-painting, music, and a lot of dancing! There will be plenty of games that will give

the kids and adults a lot of physical exercise,” she said.
She said there are twice as many vendors this year as there were last year. There will be live entertainment, a health fair, and displays. Local elected officials, candi- dates, and special guests have been invited and some are ex- pected to be in attendance.
“The MUCH Foundation with live costume characters, photographers giving free a photo to take with them, and Webley On The Go with live feed (Mobile Billboard) will be on hand for the entire du- ration of the event and more exciting entertainment.”
To ensure that the atmos- phere remains family-ori- ented and safe, Tampa Police officers will also be on hand.
For more information about the event contact Ms. Tonya Lewis at (813) 235- 5656 or via email at children- withavisioninc@yahoo.com.

President Signs Extension For Flood Insurance
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump signed bill S. 1182, the National Flood Insurance Program Extension Act of 2018, into law. The current bill was slated to expire at midnight.
The National Flood Insurance Program covers 5 million homeowners and business owners nationally, including nearly 1.8 million in Florida. The new bill reauthorizes the Federal Emer- gency Management Agency (FEMA) to enter into new contracts for flood insurance and to bor- row from the Treasury up to specified amounts through November 30, 2018.
Both the U. S. House and the U. S. Senate approved the extension.
This will allow FEMA to enter into new contracts or to renew contracts slated to expire.
