Tampa Realtor Starring In Her Own Show On HGTV
BY MONIQUE STAMPS Sentinel Staff Writer
Tampa native and real es- tate broker/agent Amina Stevens has always been des- tined for something big.
After graduating from Brooks-DeBartolo Collegiate High School, she went to the University of South Florida, where she majored in English Education.
Stevens taught middle school and high school stu- dents, joining the family legacy of educators. Growing up in a family of educators gave her a unique perspective on teach- ing. However, after being in the field, she realized that she wanted something different for her life.
She found herself teaching her senior students life skills and encouraged them to open up about their hopes and dreams. A friend asked her if she had more resources would she be able to help more peo- ple?
The question stuck. Stevens began thinking about real estate. She had always been interested but did not know how to get into the field. She also realized that she was teaching her students to follow their dreams, but she was not following hers.
Coincidentally, Stevens grew up watching HGTV. Her interest in real estate fed her interest in HGTV and vice versa.
AMINA STEVENS
... Tampa Realtor/Broker Has New HGTV Show
Her transition into her new field of real estate was quick. She started taking real estate classes after school. Realizing that real estate was strictly commission sales, she began working for Progressive Insur- ance while she honed her craft.
Now as a broker/associate with EXP Realty, she is a full- time agent/broker.
“A lot of what I learned at Progressive helped me in my current job. Especially under- writing.”
Her personal business, Homes by Amina, opened in 2018 after earning her real es- tate license in 2017. She was also interested in new con- struction and getting first time buyers into homes.
“I am relentless. People call me the Energizer Bunny. When I set a goal, I become laser focused. That is what clients are looking for when they come to me. I make sure
that my clients get the neigh- borhood they want, the pay- ment they want, and whatever else it takes to make them happy.”
“My approach is like the educator I used to be. I make sure that my clients are edu- cated in every aspect of home purchasing.”
Working with EXP Realty has also been very fulfilling. She has mentored over fifty agents in her EXP career. EXP and Homes by Amina have kept her busy, but a call from HGTV means she will be even busier.
Steven’s new show First Timers Club shows Stevens and Homes by Amina as she helps Tampa couples find their first home. The Tampa hous- ing market is one of the most volatile in the country, and Stevens uses her background in education, insurance, and real estate to guide clients to the best possible choice for their new home.
To see why HGTV decided to build a show around Stevens, a quick trip to her Instagram account, @homes- byamina shows why. In fact, it was her Instagram account that drew producers to recruit her. Her enthusiasm and en- ergy are evident, and the rest is history.
The First Timers Club pre- mieres on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. The second episode follows immediately at 11:30 a.m.
