West Tampa CDC To Host Meeting Of West Tampa Focus Groups
With redevelopment oc- curring all over lower West Tampa, the West Tampa Community Development Corporation wants to get input from the community on mapping the future for West Tampa.
On Saturday, October 29th at the Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, 2300 North Ore- gon Avenue, West Tampa Focus Groups, along with res- idents, business owners, sen- iors, and young people, are all invited and encouraged to at- tend the focus group sessions that will feature youth, busi- ness and senior stakeholders in the area.
From 10:30 a. m. to 12 p. m., youth stakeholders and business stakeholders will conduct their session.
From 1 p. m. to 2:30 p.m., senior stakeholders and work- force and unemployed stake- holders will conduct their session.
Everyone is asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to each ses- sion, and choose one of the sessions that you are inter- ested in participating in and providing input.
This is part of a USF-Ser- vice Learning class, “Research Methods for Urban Planners.” The findings of the focus group sessions will be pro- vided to the community at the
MICHAEL RANDOLPH
Wes Tampa CRA Advisory Board meeting in December 2016.
West Tampa CDC Develop- ment Manager, Michael Randolph, said they want to get a perspective on what’s preventing the West Tampa business owners from in- creasing their profits.
“We’re looking at getting a stabilization grant to help the business owners and also to help them with their overhead costs. We desperately need their input.
“We also need people look- ing for jobs to come and hear about a grant for job training. The seniors must attend as well as the youth. We need to listen to them to learn what they want.”
For more information, con- tact Michael Randolph at (813) 857-7657.
