BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
A scholarship fund has been set up to honor a FAMU grad student killed in an acci- dent last week on Interstate 10.
Rick Kinsey has set up the scholarship fund to honor Matthew Bien-Aime. Bien-Aime, 23, was the vic- tim of a fatal crash that oc- curred on Wednesday afternoon, March 16, 2016 about 2:45 p. m.
According to a report filed by the Florida Highway Pa- trol, Bien-Aime was travel- ing in the left travel lane along I-10 in Jefferson County. The driver of a semi-
trailer traveling in the right travel lane, attempted to change lanes. His trailer col- lided with Bien-Amie’s 2002 Ford SUV causing it to go into the median into the path of another semi. The SUV burst into flames upon impact. No charges have filed against Simeon Ibarra Ro- driguez, 66, driver of the semi-trailer that initially struck Bien-Amie’s SUV.
A native of Tampa, born on December 4, 1992, Bien- Aime was a graduate of Tampa Bay Technical Insti- tute, Class of 2011. He contin- ued his education at Florida A&M University, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecu-

lar Cellular Biology. Cur- rently, he was pursuing a Master’s degree in Biology and preparing to take the MCAT for medical school.
Bien-Aime was returning to the FAMU campus from Tampa after his spring break visit that took him to New York City to visit his best friend, Jordan Kinsey, who now works for CBS. This was

his first visit to New York. The two young men were best friends through high school, graduated together, went to FAMU together; were room- mates there and graduated together. Jordan went on to work and Bien-Aime con- tinued in school.
By the time the young man reached his sophomore year at FAMU he had lost both his
parents – Wilson Bien- Aime and Bernice Amelia Lowe Bien-Aime.
Jordan told a Tallahas- see newspaper that Bien- Aime called him on the drive back to Tallahassee to wish him a 23rd happy birthday. That was their last conversa- tion.
The $25,000 gofundme account set up by Rick Kin- sey, father of Jordan, can be connected at https://www.gofundme.com /cvve8yzh. After making the initial donation, he is work- ing with FAMU to establish the scholarship on campus. A donation from CBS has al- ready been added to the ac- count.
Funeral services for Bien- Aime will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016, 11 a. m. at New Progress M. B. Church, where he had been a faithful member. His spiritual growth continued in Tallahassee at Jacob Chapel Baptist Church. Harmon Funeral Home is handling the services.
