In A Flood Of Tears After
News Broke About Kobe
LeBron James, 35, was seen in tears after he exited the Los Angeles Lakers plane following the news of Kobe Bryant’s death on Sunday, January 26. He was com- forted by two other individu- als who held him tightly amid his immense pain. Kobe con- gratulated LeBron on pass- ing him on the NBA’s all-time scoring leaderboard one day before he died on Saturday, January 26, tweeting, “Con- tinuing to move the game for- ward @KingJames. Much respect my brother.”
LeBron Passes Kobe For Third On NBA's All-Time Scoring List
Just a day before this tragedy, in his increasingly re- alistic quest to claim the NBA’s all-time scoring title, LeBron entered Saturday’s nationally televised game

needing 18 points to eclipse Kobe for third on that list.
Bryant scored 33,643 points in 1,346 games and 48,637 minutes over 20 sea- sons. It took him 26,200 field- goal attempts.
With a layup in the third quarter against the Philadel- phia 76ers, James surpassed his fellow Los Angeles Lakers superstar in 105 fewer games, almost 1,000 fewer minutes and three fewer seasons, re- quiring nearly 2,000 fewer field-goal attempts to hit his mark.
Former President Barack Obama joined so many others this week in grief and shock over the death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, who was killed early Sunday along with his daughter Gi- anna in a helicopter crash in the Los Angeles area.
"Kobe was a legend on the court and just getting started in what would have been just as meaningful a sec- ond act," Obama tweeted.
“To lose Gianna is even

more heartbreaking to us as parents.”
“Michelle and I send love and prayers to Vanessa and the entire Bryant family on an unthinkable day,” Obama continued.
His friendship with Bryant dates back years. Bryant visited Obama (a noted basketball fan) repeat- edly in the White House, in- cluding in 2015 as he prepared to retire from the L.A. Lakers.
    Michael Jordan Says
 Kobe Bryant, ‘Was Like
A Little Brother To Me’
 KOBE BRYANT AND MICHAEL JORDAN
For diehard Kobe Bryant fans, Sunday was surreal.
Kobe Bryant's friends, competitors and fans are mourning the loss of a basket- ball legend after he, his daughter and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash Sunday.
Among them is longtime friend Michael Jordan, who said he was "shocked" at Bryant's death, and loved him like "a little brother."
In the complete statement posted to Twitter Jordan
said:
"I am in shock over the
tragic news of Kobe's and Gi- anna's passing. Words can't describe the pain I'm feeling. I loved Kobe - he was like a lit- tle brother to me. We used to talk often, and I will miss those conversations very much. He was a fierce com- petitor, one of the greats of the game and a creative force. Kobe was also an amazing dad who loved his family deeply - and took great pride in his daughter's love for the game of basketball. Yvette joins me in sending my deep- est condolences to Vanessa, the Lakers organization and basketball fans around the world.”
While Bryant played for the Lakers his entire career, plenty of basketball fans in Chicago expressed dismay over the loss of the NBA leg- end as well.
